On April 9th 2003 the foundation was established with the aim to promote the education and welfare of underprivileged children in India.

Benares Schoolfund Foundation is registered at the Chamber of Commerce and has been classified by the Inland Revenue as an Institution Aiming for General Welfare (Algemeen Nut Beogende Instelling / ANBI).

For raising funds, foundations are approached and concerts organised, particularly for Rotaries. Private people are approached for school sponsoring; schoolsponsors are asked for a structural contribution for the full schoolcosts of a child.

The foundation publishes a yearly newsletter; important part of it is an extensive financial reporting. See >
